About mould
MOULD is a droning low-tuned five-piece from the Netherlands, merging sonic doom (Windhand) and epic sludge (YOB, Neurosis, Thou). The blend of their guitar-heavy sound with atypical/clean female and male vocals gives their music a unique sound. Call it heavy with a sparkle, massive but open, gorgeously sludgy.
Although conceived earlier by guitarists Mark de Smit and Jeska Buhmann, MOULD evolved into a full-blown guitar driven, live-playing band in 2021. After a series of live performances, their focus in 2023 was on finalizing their debut album Pull & Repulsion. Each composition portrays its own sliding landscape, evoking oppressive and absorbing atmospheres. MOULD is impatiently anticipating sharing their energy and music with devotees of slow heaviness.
MOULD is een droning low-tuned vijftal uit Nederland, dat sonic doom (Windhand) en epische sludge (YOB, Neurosis, Thou) samensmelt. De mix van hun gitaar-heavy sound met atypische/cleane zang van zowel vrouwelijke als mannelijke vocals zorgt voor een unieke sound. Noem het heerlijke sludge, die zwaar en massief maar tegelijk ook sprankelend en open is.
Hoewel eerder opgericht door gitaristen Mark de Smit en Jeska Buhmann, evolueerde MOULD in 2021 tot een volwaardige live spelende band. Na een reeks optredens, lag in 2023 de focus op het afwerken van hun debuutalbum Pull & Repulsion. Elke compositie trekt je mee in een nieuw landschap van bedrukkende schoonheid. MOULD kan niet wachten om hun energie en muziek te delen met liefhebbers van slow heaviness.

Pull & Repulsion
Debut album
In total seven songs were recorded at ICP studios in Brussels by Stephen van Haestregt. The album was mixed by Matthijs Kievit, mastered by Pieter Kloos, and will be released May 17th by Polderrecords.
For their debut album Pull & Repulsion, MOULD explores different facets of duality. This is reflected in their music, their lyrics, their artwork, and their logo.
There is but a fine line that separates the world as we see it that lies above the surface from what’s below. Just a flicker of an eye to turn what we think is real into a distorted reflection. And although some of these reflections are cold and dark, we need those perspectives and all our senses as well to understand our surroundings.
This album is a celebration of embracing both what attracts and what repulses us.
In totaal zijn er zeven songs in de ICP studio’s in Brussel opgenomen door Stephen van Haestregt. Het album is gemixt door Matthijs Kievit, gemasterd door Pieter Kloos, en wordt op 18 mei via Polderrecords gereleased.
Voor hun debuutalbum Pull & Repulsion, verkent MOULD verschillende perspectieven van dualiteit. Dit zie je zowel terug in de muziek, als in de teksten, het artwork en het logo.
De zichtbare en de onzichtbare wereld worden slechts door een ragfijne sluier van elkaar gescheiden. Terwijl je met je ogen knippert verandert de waarheid in een verwrongen reflectie. Koud, akelig en donker, maar samen met al onze zintuigen hebben we deze rimpels in het wateroppervlak nodig om de wereld om ons heen te begrijpen.
Met dit album viert en omarmt MOULD datgene wat ons aantrekt en wat ons afstoot.
